SCS Tea Pot Party 448 - red hat

i

This week the SplitCoastStampers Tea Pot Party cards go to Sue in Canada being treated for an aggressive cancer.  She has many interests, including the Canadian Crown Jewels - I understand that is the Canadian version of Red Hatters.  So I  have a red hat with lots of jewels!  I inserted clear gems with the scalloped die cut, gave her some pearls and that huge diamond ring!  The DP is Lily of the Valley, and I added rick rack.  This packet is marked $.19 - it was in a bundle I got at a yard sale a while ago, and I need to start using it up.

QKR Stampede DT card ~ challenge #232 ~ ATG with a Birthday twist

I hope you will join the DT gals at QKR Stampede this week for anything goes.  The optional twist is easy - do a birthday card.  You may enter up to 3 times.  QKR images are not required, but if you use one you have a better chance of winning more images.  The deadline is 6 pm EST Thursday.
For my birthday card I selected this old fashioned girl, and surrounded her with papers from a Heritage (DCWV) collection for a vintage look. The grid paper has numbered lines (left side).   I used chalk pencils for coloring, and added some torn corners to add to the vintage feel.

Tea Party for a wounded officer

You may have seen previous references - I try to do many of the TeaPot Party challenges at SplitCoastStampers.  Each week we may send our cards to a recipient in need of cheer.  I am late - last week's party was for a police officer seriously injured when he was run over by a fleeing criminal.  I did not have anything that worked for suggested themes, so I have used clip art - I am sure this patriotic theme will work.  I would encourage you to visit the Tea Party forum and join in to show support for this injured hero.  Teapot-Tuesdays-#447

For Eugene

I need a masculine thinking of you card - this is great for AZ!  I added chalk sponging to all sections of the card.  SU image, Kolette Hall sentiment, shiny cord tied in a bow.  My favorite stamp is often the one I am using - this sentiment is one I have used a lot.

Favorite stamp:   Penny Black at Allsorts
Chalk:    Chalk n Stock
Bow:  Dragonfly Journeys
This is a quick card to send to a couple from our church - they are both experiencing health problems. Cuttlebug die cut, Darice butterfly embossing folder.  This is a kind of out of the box sketch for me!

Thank you in brown and teal

Challenges asking for favorites create a dilemma for me - often my favorites change daily or even hourly!  I hope you will forgive my inconsistency.
DP - several pieces from DCWV Garden Party pad; SU stamp, teal tear drops by Fiskars; chocolate half pearls by Pizzazz Aplenty; Nesties circles. (The tear drops are nearly invisible in the upper right.)

Polka Dots and Red

I subbed the Labels4 die for a heart, and double cut both the Thanks and the top mat - I like that way of separating colors for contrast.   Once again I used my favorite tool, the die cutting machine, for both embossing and cutting. The black, white and red is another of my favorite combos.
Cuttlebug Thanks; Spellbinder Labels; debossed WeR Memory Keepers folder; red, white, polka dot cs and misc. ribbon.

Sparkle and bling - QKR DT card Challenge #231

This week the challenge at QKR Stampede is the usual Anything Goes, with a twist - add some bling or sparkle. You may enter up to 3 times by Thursday at 6pm EST.  For me, sparkle means a wedding card!  I used this cute Wedding Cake image from QKR Stampede, and added a sentiment from Eureka.  The theme for a wedding must be love!  To reinforce that, I used my Darice heart folder for the background embossing.  I have had this roll of silver bling for some time.  The dies are Spellbinders Majestic Elements.  Shimmery silver cs for the image and card base add more sparkle.

SCS Teapot Party

Last week the SCS TeaPot Party went to cheer Eli, a 12 year old who has a brain tumor,  He enjoys a good joke.- the answer to the riddle is "a receding hareline".  The images are clip art, and I  used a grass die cut behind the rabbits.

Special birthday

A friend asked me to make a card her her sister's 90th birthday - seems like I have done several of these lately.  Must be something about my own age...!!!  I used a stamp that has been collecting dust (not sure it has seen ink before) and I think it will soon be a favorite - I like the black and white look and it lends itself to that.  It is by Fiskars. Watercolor pencils with an aquapen added a bit of color.  The floral embossing is a new (prize) folder by WeR Memory Keepers.  I used some scraps for the stamped panel and the bg as well as the punched butterflies.  A bit of glitter adds sparkle.  The sentiment is by my computer.  What is my favorite tool?  It is certainly my die cut machine - for dies and embossing - I make very few cards without one or the other!

Congrats, Hal

We just learned that our grandson has been accepted at the CSU (Colorado State Univ.) college of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.  He will begin next fall, but we wanted to send him congratulations now.    This Vet image came from Dearie Dolls, and the barn is by Scraphappy PaperCrafters.  The congratulations is a newly acquired die by Spellbinders.

Special congrats to Adrienne / QKR D#229 - Anything goes with a twist of embossing

This card has already been received by our granddaughter.  She is a sophomore at the U.S. Air Force Academy and recently was named to the Wings of Blue (parachute) demonstration team.  In order to qualify she had to have over 40 jumps, and hopes to have 500 by the time she is a senior.  At that time we may be able to see her do a pinpoint landing at football games, air shows, etc.
The anything goes challenge at QKR Stampede this week may include embossing of any kind.  I used my circle EF, which I sanded lightly.  You may enter up to 3 times by 4pm (EST) Thursday, Febr. 16.
I used DP, the circles and a grassy die cut for a background for this critter's sky jump (Parachuting Birdie by QKR), and I used chalk behind the image. The blues represent Air Force Blue.  I added a red target for the pinpoint landing - hope he makes it!  Oh, yes, the sentiment is also a QKR digi.

Seeds of hope 3

See my previous posts for information on the Seeds of Hope after school program  I am helping out this week - my first experience working with young kids at a craft class so I am not sure what their skills are!  I am trying to  minimize layers - hence the doodles on the QKR sentiment.  The heart outline is in my files and I neglected to note the source.  Let me know if you recognize it!  I used a sticker - I know kids like stickers!    The embossing folder is by Darice,  I used red cs from a new pack.

Seeds of Hope -2

You may have read in previous posts that this week I am going to help a friend with her after school craft classes at Seeds of Hope, a local outreach organization.  She has about a dozen in each class, and we will be making valentines.  This will be an example for the youngest group (1st grade).  This is my first experience with this kind of endeavor - not real sure what skills these kids have!  I thought this use of pre-cut hearts would work.  Actually, this is pretty much outside the box for me but I think kids will like it.  I have lots of stickers and tape for them to use.  Most of these hearts are from Cuttlebug dies, and the sentiment is QKR.

Special card for Linda

A friend asked me to make a special card for her friend Linda.  Linda needs all of our prayers as she will be undergoing extensive treatment and a long recuperation.  I made the card 4.75x6.25.  The new dark teal cs is embossed with a Darice butterfly embossing folder.  The cs is white core so a bit of white was exposed, but I did sand it a little more.  The butterfly layer is placed under the strips of lace.  The SU image is stamped with teal, and edged with the same ink.  The sentiment is computer generated.  I know most of you are much more imaginative than me, but I made a discovery.  I wanted the sentiment to match the image, but of course the labels1 die is basically square.  I cut the piece with the smallest die, then traced the die at the top and bottom of the tag so I could fussy cut the top and bottom to match the image.  I used Petaloo flowers and Spellbinder Blooms 2 dies with shiny gems for embellishment.  I hope this will cheer Linda.

Seeds of Hope

Next week I will help a friend with her craft classes at a local organization called Seeds of Hope.  They help those in need in various ways.  The craft classes are a part of their outreach.  The weekly after school activities include a spiritual component as well as the craft.  I will bring materials and examples so they can make valentines for their parents and/or friends. This or a similar card will be a model.
Pre colored image by Mary Ellen at Dearie Dolls (inside I printed: God loves you and so do I.  To someone very special.)   Serendipity - the heart paper was a super market mailer in today's mail!; Sizzix embossing folder;  QKR sentiment; pencil sticker because kids love stickers!

QKR Stampede DT Challenge #229 - Anything goes/Valentine

This week the challenge at QKR Stampede is again Anything Goes, with an optional twist - Valentine card. I will probably use this as an example for the older group.
The image is called Love Bear, from QKR Stampede - colored with Prismas, and the sentiment is from the sister company, Eureka Stamps.  I added some sticker hearts - I got a book with tons of stickers for $1 (Dollar Tree) so I would have a lot for the kids to use.  The DP is from a Martha Stewart book.
