50th card in April

Made it!  I have done more than 50 in a month, but not often.  Admittedly, the past few have been short cut kind of cards.  This uses a pre-colored Dearie Doll freebie - I know a couple of people who will love it!  I matched the bg to the coloring, and added Washi tape held down by brads.  I have a good collection of brads, etc. that I rarely use - and I need to pare down those items.  The gold strip at the bottom has also been in my stash for a while.

Lovely in Lace

I belatedly set a goal of having 50 cards in my April gallery.  I am going to make it, but only by resorting to some super simple cards!  Not long ago I  purchased a kit of various card toppers, back grounds, inserts, etc., by Kanban.  This series is called Lovely in Lace, and will make a lot of cards.  This is actually a punched piece that I did not separate. The main color is a deep sage.  I used one of the tags for the sentiment, with a bit of silver sticker for embellishment.

Sympathy - Black and white

Black and white cards are among my favorites, and they work especially well for sympathy cards.  I also used another favorite -an embossed bg - this one by Darice.  Actually, this is the debossed side.  The sentiment has become separated from the set - is it Verve?  The butterfly is a sticker.  I think I found this set of 7 different butterflies at the Dollar Tree.  They are all different - varying amounts of clear, black and white.  The actual sticker is one layer, but in the package it looked like the second layer was also part of the sticker - it is colored and edged in shiny silver.  When I opened the package I discovered this layer was just part of the sheet.  I simply cut around it, and - voila!  A double butterfly sticker.

Image by Stampavie (Quiet Moments) - my recent prize from Creating in Faith, Hope and Love- colored with Prismas and Twinkling H2O; Lavalier Circle by Memory Box; Sentiment by Elizabeth; swirl by Die-Namics; Washi tape; DP by DCWV.  This card has an anniversary wish on the inside.:

New home

This is an image (by the Alley Way) I enjoy using and works well for a "new home" card.  I colored with pastel chalk pencils,  The DP is from a Teresa Collins pad - thought the word "stuff" was appropriate for moving!  The Kraft bg is embossed with a Sizzix brick folder.  The fence is MemoryBox; the grass by Die-Namics; and the key is part of a Garden Gate set by Marianne...The letters are hung from a bit of twine.

Spring green

This is a YNS stamp I have had for some time and do not tire of using.  I colored with shiny Twinkling H2O inks and a water brush.  I like the way I can use chalk to soften the main panel, and tie it in with the bg panel.  The sentiment is from DanDeLion designs.  I cut tiny flowers with a Cheery Lynn die set, and enhanced with tiny jewels.  The strip is Washi tape - I often back it with plain cs, but this time I decided to let the pattern show through the tape.  The top panel is a soft sage color though it looks more grey on my screen.  It is embossed with Swirls (Cuttlebug).  A tiny metallic gold strip separates the top and bottom panels.

This IS pink

Sorry about the color - IRL the paisley has various shades of pink, and the polka dots are also pink.  The mat is eggplant, not black.  The stamps are both from an old set by SU - Etruscan.  It has a nice variety of stamps I like a lot but forget to use - or just have so many others that I cannot possibly make good use of all of them.  I tried something new for the "flower".  The cut outs from the fancy circle were spread out on my desk, so I decided to try to put them together - and I am very pleased with the result.  It does get pretty thick where all the points meet, so I just used a sequin for a flat center.  There is glitter added, as well as the pink drops in the corners.

Peach and aqua

This image has been in my stash for a long time - from a friend.  I think it is a Gina K stamp with sentiment.  THe DP is also from my stash.  On the other hand, the light peach and aqua solid cs is from a new acquisition - DCWV pads that just arrived - a great prize, and super colors!  The flowers are Cheery Lynn dies, with pearl centers added, and the lace and ribbon are stash items as well.  You can see a bit of the embossalicious birthday folder used on the light peach.

Celebrating Mom

This Tilda With Heart is holding a heart to greet her mom!  She is colored with Prismas, and metallic pens for her leggings.   The mats, button die cut, and letters are from eggplant cs.  The swirly ef is Cuttlebug, and the pink dot cs is DCWV - part of a great prize I just received through Hiding in my Craft Room (You will see a lot of this in future posts.)

April Showers before May flowers

These AI gals are so much fun - this is from the pop up set called Rain Rain go Away.  I did not use all the layers - the bg, cloud, sentiment, and the gals under the umbrella.  I added a bit of shading (chalk) to the cloud.  The buttons are faux - die cuts!  The flowers will be showing up in May - they are Cheery Lynn die cuts, with some sparkly gems added.

Cherry Blossoms

For the edging and mats I have used the lovely metallic Emerald cs from Classy Cards 'n Such - though this image does not do it justice.  The DP is a piece I have had for a long time - either Old World or Asian by DCWV.  The cherry blossoms are a digi from A Day for Daisies.  I added a CC Design butterfly and some sheer ribbon that I heated.  The edging is a Fiskar's scallop punch.

Window Box

I am the one who is blessed - in so many ways!  One of the blessings has been to score a few great wins recently in challenges!  Most recently (yesterday, in fact) I received two Cheery Lynn dies I was able to select - the Shuttered window with flower box, and the Tiny flower kit.  The flower die cuts 32 varied shapes and sizes - from about 1/4 to 5/8 inch or so.  I cut mine in white, pink and red this time - and will have enough for several cards.  I filled in with the Cheery Lynn branch die - cut into small bits, and sprinkled some glitter on the flowers.  The window cuts in 5 pieces so could be used separately.  I applied the edges direct to a Sepia ink pad to create a bit more dimension.  I bit of gold, scalloped, velvet ribbon and brick embossing complete the exterior.    For the interior I printed a pre-colored Dearie Doll image in a very small format - you can see the cat but the mice on the chair are a bit harder to notice.  I found a bit of DP for the wall paper.  Next time I might cut the image and put it on a wooden bg.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, we no longer have mothers with us to honor, but this card would be for any special woman.  I used a portion of a sentiment from Our Daily Bread.

Garden statue and gate

Once again, I encourage your help and suggestions.  I recently won the Garden Gate and Statue dies (by Marianne) - from Creative Card Crew.  I will be trying different things to place behind the gate!  This is an old stamp by Endless creations.  I added some leaves from a Sizzix die - using black to stay with the kraft and black theme.  I placed the Our Daily Bread sentiment on a punched border.  I aged the statue with a bit of black sponging.  Oh, yes, I cut an extra outer panel of the gate, spit it in half, and extended the fence on either side in this way.  Since I decided to add the statue I really did not need to do that.

Quick card

The card was quick - after I spent over 10 minutes trying to find the right color cs!  This is a Cuttlebug embossing folder - with the flowers lightly chalked.  For some reason I ordered several sheets of stickers I rarely used and thought this might work here (EKSuccess).  The butterfly is from a promotional sheet - this winter we have received enough return address stickers, other stickers and notepads - from charities- that could last several life times!

Bouquet for a mom

I no longer have any mothers te receive my cards, but this would be most appropriate for any woman.
Supplies:  image by ODB, colored with metallic markers; shimmer cs (Recollections); embossing with LifeStyle Crafts folder; ribbon from Pizzazz Aplenty; Blessings die by CheeryLynn, enhanced with glitter.
Technique:  I tried to use a dab of Versamark reinker and black embossing powder for the flower centers and butterfly markings.  I should have practiced first, as it did not work well.  I am not sure if it was the technique or the shiny cs, but the heat gun pretty much made the embossing powder disappear rather than create a shiny dot - I did a second application on several flowers.

A new garden gate

I just received the Marianne die (for the gate) as a prize at Creative Card Crew, and I have been anxious to try it.  I thought it would work to place the Day for Daisies cherry blossoms behind the gate.  When I got it put together, it seemed pretty bare just behind the gate, so I unstuck a bit and slid in the row of tulips with the sentiment (dollar bin stamp) - the best I could do to rescue what I had already done!  Next time I will make more of a scene.  I added a couple of Cheery Lynn branches, and Rain drops - the clear and many colors are available at Classy Cards 'n Such.  The cherry blossoms are subtly colored with pink pastel chalk pencils; the centers are brown gems from Hampton Arts.

Shaped card

This is way outside of the box for me - I have made only a small handful of shaped cards, but I like the results using this die set (Nestabilities Majestic Elements) and will probably do more.  I also seldom use orange - now there are several from recent days.  BTW, the outer oval is more soft peach than it appears here. The butterflies are by CC Designs, in a springy pale orange.  I added several shiny orange gems.

For You

FYI - this is scanned, and the color is not at all true to life - probably because of the rain drops.  The mat is orange, as is the butterfly,  and the dp background is a muted orange.  The flower with button is a pre-made piece from Basic Grey.  I used some new tape - a prize from Christine at Stamped Blessings.  It changes patterns every inch or so - neat tape!  I used die cut letters to create the banner of the sketch.  Clear rain drops and crystals are accents, as well as a couple of Cheery Lynn leaves.

For a friend

I have several friends in need of a lift -this verse (Our Daily Bread birthday set) is a good encouragement for all of us.  I tend to forget how much I like the effect of sponging with chalk. This DP has been in my collection for a while, and the cover is separated so I am not sure of the origin.  I die cut buttons from one of the matching papers that has dots.  I backed them with Kraft cut from the next larger button - that is about as much sewing as I do!!!  All the mats are Kraft, and I added a bit of lace trim.  The buttons are popped up.  I used some shiny twine - I like it but it does not want to tie as it is quite stiff.  So I distressed it with scissors - just like I would use scissors to curl paper ribbon.  Worked like a charm!

Simple sympathy

I like to keep a few sympathy cards on hand - for my own use and also for friends who seem to rely on my stash!  I used this Darice embossing folder - I think you can see I selected lilac cs with a white back, so there is a subtle white shading on the embossing.  I added a Cheery Lynn butterfly, which I cut twice - purple and shimmery champagne (that is also the card base).   Not much of the purple is visible, but it adds dimension.

Critters and wings in pastels

This Inkadinkado stamp is a nice one, but it is one I am not sure what to do with.  There are so many elements to color - I ended up leaving some with no coloring and then had a chance to use lots of colors - mostly pastels and a few brighter ones.  I used some metallic gel pens for finer details, and watercolor pencils with an aqua pen for some of the larger items.  Your ideas are most welcome.
I used a couple of pieces of DP from my scrap stash.  The gold embossed "corner" is also a scrap that was just the right shape and size.  The card is finished with a strip of Washi tape and punched butterfly.

Button and a doily

I struggle big time with CAS - in retrospect, I think I would like this better with a textured layer under the doily, but I needed a card in a hurry. I used my Spellbinder circle die to cut the doily to a smaller size, then cut a few nicks at the outside edge of the doily to make the larger solid areas look a bit more lacy.  The sentiment is pre printed and pre cut - from Kanban's Lovely in Lace collection.  The chipboard button is from Multicraft imports, and I added a shiny twine tie.

HB, Ethan

Our grandsons are in their mid 20's, and to me, this is a difficult time period for card making!  However, I am always on target with a dog for Ethan!  He will soon be heading to central Washington to fight forest fires again this summer - Grandma's prayer is for an uneventful season!

April showers and a flower

For this card I used a few more pieces from the Lovely in Lace kit from Kanban, with shimmery aubergine cs for backing.  If you look closely you can see the two preprinted umbrellas in white, at the top of the card.  I added a bow of shiny twine to the tag, and a couple of matching gems.  FYI, the main image and tag are also pre printed and pre-cut  pieces from the kit.

Scripture and amethyst

My mind has gone blank on the challenge to use something beginning with "A", other than apple and art!  I finally came up with amethyst, and I hope this cs and chalk are that color.  The embossing folder is by Darice -embossed on shimmery, silvery cs; and the strips are washi tape.

Earth day recycle

I saved some corrugated dividers from a package of small bowls (a Dollar Tree find!).  I  cut it down with a circle die, and splattered with Walnut ink - this bottle always sprays with blobs!

Flowers and doodles

The flowers are cut from a Cuttlebug die which is part of the Olivia alpha set - one of the first Cuttlebug purchases I made years ago!  I used a tiny pop dot to raise the smaller blossom.  The centers are gems by Hampton Art.  The stripes and peachy bg are parts of the same large page of DPn and the critter is one of Cheery Lynn's tiny things with wings.  A note about that...I wanted to make it pop a bit, so I decided to cut a second one with black cs to back up the orange.  Well, all those tiny openings result in separate pieces.  My plan was to tape the black ones on the back of the orange bug.  That was not at all easy to do with such tiny pieces - but I finally made it!  Does any one have a better suggestion?

Spring yellow

A friend needs to send a card for an 80th birthday.  If she likes this one, I will add gold stickers for 80.
Supplies:  Hampton Art stamp, embossalicious HB folder (I chalked the Happy Birthday); Spellbinder circle dies; unknown gold border sticker; unknown DP; mat - Emerald metallic cs from Classy Cards 'n Such.  I used Twinkling H20's to color.  Classy Cards 'n Such also has a nice assortment of Twinkling H20 sets.  I really like the sparkle - especially this gold.

Shaped card

Several months ago my sister sent me a large box of card making supplies - given to her by a friend.  I have not had a chance to even touch the surface of what was in that box!  There was a packet containing several matching pieces, including pre cut circle cards.  Too bad - there was no manufacturer given, so I have no idea of the origin.  The colors are lovely.  There are several of these two-sided circles, and several pieces that look like stands - in peach.  Problem is, I am not sure how they go together!  All the pieces except the Day for Daisies flower, the ribbon, gems and sequins were in the kit.  Does any one recognize this?
I fussy cut the image - not my usual style, but I think it worked. BTW, the strip is a glittery piece.

Naomi - wishes for a speedy recovery

I just heard about Naomi's surgery, so I needed a quick card.  I used pieces from the Kanban kit I ordered from Create and Craft.  The umbrella is on cs - all I did was use a die cut circle for the shape I wanted.  The lacy strip and bg are from the same kit.  I added ribbon, scalloped Spellbinder die cuts and a sentiment from 7Gypsies.  I do not know the color of the bg for the umbrella, and for the mats - kind of a dark teal with a brownish cast.

Showers bring flowers

I dusted off a set (Stampin up) that I have had quite a while, and seldom use -the fine print.  I added clouds and rain drops from Cheery Lynnvdies, and butterfly punches.  The DP is from a double sided piece, and I embossed the grey/blue sky with circles.

For Iva

I know -this looks like a re run!  My sister-in-law really likes teal and I am sure she will like this image - so a birthday card  seemed in order.  This time I used Cuttlebug dies for the bg and the cream strip - on shimmer cs.  Supplies:  pre-colored image by TLC  (http://createwithtlc-createwithtlc.blogspot.com/); Spellbinder ovals; sentiment by Elizabeth; washi tape, ribbon; glitter (by sentiment)

Vintage hummingbirds

This is a pre-colored image from TLC.  I really like the soft, vintage look.  I used emerald metallicr cs from Classy Cards embossed with Victoria (cuttlebug).  The die cut bird is Cheery Lynn, and I used pale green lace obtained at a yard sale.  I do need to find a better way to make it stay flat, however.

Give thanks to the Lord

What an appropriate verse for Easter Monday!  The stamps are Unity, colored with shiny metallic markers.  The DP is Doodlebug Design, from my stash, and I added some pastel gems.

Pastel birthday

Whew!  I actually did a Mojo Monday challenge on Monday - and early, at that!
Supplies:  Tattered Lace floral panel die;  stamp by All Night Media; gel pens; Embossalicious HB folder (6x6); washi tape; Petaloo flower, gem, CheeryLynn branch die.  Note:  I originally placed the floral panel directly on the HB panel, but it made it look too busy, so I backed it with a plain pink panel.  I also backed the washi tape with white cs.
